Cultural Passes

As part of our commitment to cultural enrichment, Asbury Park Public Library offers cultural passes.

Cultural passes provide individuals and groups free or discounted access to several museums and cultural institutions in our area. In most cases, passes must be picked up in person at the library and returned the next day.

Below is a list of participating organizations. Please read carefully as the borrowing terms vary by organization. Also note that this list and the details contained therein are subject to change.

The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

One pass grants two (2) adults and up to five (5) children from the same household free general admission into the museum, free entrance into Academy festivals, and a 10% discount in the Academy shop.
Pass must be picked up at the library and returned the next business day.

American Museum of Natural History

Grants one (1) guest (age 3 or older) admission to the museum.
Available as a single-use voucher. Each guest must have their own voucher.
At the museum, the guest must exchange their physical library voucher for a General Admission ticket and Special Exhibition ticket of their choice.
Families are limited to four (4) vouchers per year.
As these are single-use vouchers, they do not need to be returned to the library.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

One pass grants two (2) adults and accompanying children (17 and under) free admission into the garden, as well as discounts at the café and gift shop.
Pass must be picked up at the library and returned the next business day.

Liberty Science Center

Grants any library cardholder 10% off membership or $3.00 off a general admission ticket.
No physical pass needed. Just present your library card to LSC staff.

New York Transit Museum

One pass grants two (2) adults and four (4) children free admission to the museum. It also includes $5 off programs/excursions.
This pass must be reserved online. Visit nytransitmuseum.org/know-before-you-visit, and use the discount code APLIB2 at checkout. You must print the pass and bring it with you to the museum.

The Newark Museum of Art

One pass grants two (2) adults and accompanying children (17 and under) free admission to the museum. It also includes a 10% discount at the museum gift shop.
Pass must be picked up at the library and returned the next business day.

Asbury Park Public Library

Policies Section 5: Collections 507: Cultural Pass Policy

Purpose: To outline the usage of cultural passes provided by the Asbury Park Public Library.

Eligibility

Passes are available to Asbury Park Public Library cardholders in good standing (no outstanding fees over $25.00, no lost or overdue items).
Borrowers must be 18 years or older and present a valid library card and photo ID at checkout.

Reservations & Loan Periods

Borrowers may reserve a pass 30 days in advance.
Passes are loaned for 2 days and must be returned by the due date to allow other patrons to use them.
Only one pass per library card can be booked per day.

General Usage Rules:

Passes are for general admission and do not necessarily grant access to special events or ticketed exhibits.
Patron named on the pass must be present to redeem the pass. Please have your photo ID and library card ready at check-in at the destination.
Digital passes are one-day use only and are only good for the date and patron printed on the pass.
Physical passes must be picked up at the Library and returned by the due date.
It is the patron’s responsibility to call the museum or check the museum’s website to confirm hours, exhibits, events, directions, and public transportation options.

Fines and Fees:

The charge for a lost pass is a $10 processing fee, plus any fees associated with the replacement cost of the pass.
