The library will be closed Fri, 6/19 for Juneteenth. Our Junior Room will close at 4 PM on Thu, 6/18, and will be closed all day Sat, 6/20.
Notary Services
Documents can be notarized on site for $2.50 per seal, cash only. Appointments are required. To make an appointment with one of our notaries, call the main desk: (732)-774-4221.
Please note: certain types of documents cannot be notarized at the library. Be sure to specify the type of document you need notarized when you call.

Asbury Park Public Library
Policies Section 3: Library Usage 314: Notary Services
Purpose: To provide notary services as a community service to library patrons in accordance with New Jersey laws and regulations.
Eligibility:
Notary services are available to individuals with a valid photo ID.
Notarization is only provided for documents that are within the legal scope of notarial acts.
Hours of Service:
Notary services are available by appointment only.
Availability may vary based on the schedule of the notary public on staff.
Fees:
Notary services are $2.50 per seal.
Fees for additional services, such as document printing, copying and faxing, will apply as per the library's standard fees.
Document Requirements:
The document(s) must be complete and ready for notarization but can not be signed prior to the appointment.
All signers must be present and have a valid government-issued photo ID.
Notary Restrictions:
The notary public cannot provide legal advice or prepare documents.
The notary public cannot witness signatures if the signer is not present.
Responsibilities of Patrons:
Patrons must be able to understand and sign the documents in the presence of the notary.
Patrons must not bring documents that require specific legal advice or complex notarization procedures such as wills or housing deeds.
Procedure:
Patrons should call to ensure a notary public is available and check in at the Adult Library circulation desk to request notary services.
The library staff will verify the availability of a notary and schedule an appointment if necessary.
Patrons will meet with the notary public at the designated time and present their documents and ID.
The notary public will complete the notarization, ensuring all legal requirements are met.
Liability:
The library and its staff are not liable for the content or legal effectiveness of the documents notarized.
